Question by Sticky: Best way to split 1 ethernet cable into 3?
I have one cable going into my room, but I have 3 devices requiring an ethernet cable each. I do not want to go with a slower wireless network.
Would a simple ethernet splitter be excellent? Or a hub? another router?
I’m looking for a touch that won’t lose alot of “download speed”, but also not too expensive <$ 40. Not very computer literate, so any advice is appreciated.
Will I lose "download speed" when splitting? If so, how much?

use a router. But the wireless option is not slower any how. Your connection to the web is no way as quick as the local net connection

you should be able to get a small 4 port switch. should have 5 ports, one to uplink to the main cable, and the others to connect the devices you need to link to the main ethernet.
Newegg.com has a router for $ 32 made by US Robotics that supports up to 4 devices. Newegg is a very excellent company to buy from.
David K is aptly. Since you already have a router, you just need a switch to connect the additional devices. You will only lose bandwidth if the additional devices are accessing the Internet at the same time as other devices. If only one is by it at a time, you’ll still get full speed.
Don’t get another router. For one thing, you don’t need additional routing capability for your situation. For another, a router would be more expensive than a small workgroup switch. And most importantly, depending on how its defaulting setup is done, it may really mess up your current network. Stick with a switch.
